BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER – EMALI

Reporting Relationship: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Summary

Join our team at Emali Dedicated Children’s Agency (EDCA) as a Business Development Officer. You will play a pivotal role in implementing our roadmap and strategic plan, focusing on business development efforts. Working closely with the CEO, you’ll be involved in proposal development, donor prospecting, and managing key relationships. Duties/Responsibilities

Resource Mobilization

  • Ensure alignment of business development activities with EDCA’s policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the preparation of office plans and budgets, ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives.
  • Conduct market studies and donor mapping to strengthen fundraising concepts.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to design quality proposals.
  • Gather intelligence for grant acquisition and stay updated on relevant guidance materials.

Proposal Development/Grant Writing

  • Lead proposal development efforts, conducting desk reviews and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Develop evidence-based capability statements and past performance references.
  • Establish business processes for quality proposal development.

Networking and Relationship Building

  • Develop donor engagement strategies for key stakeholders.
  • Maintain proactive engagement with potential donors and partners.
  • Attend networking events and represent EDCA as needed.

Knowledge Management, Learning and Sharing

  • Develop and maintain a knowledge management system for tracking opportunities.
  • Manage a knowledge database to ensure information sharing and capture new opportunities.

Child Safeguarding

  • Remain alert to child safeguarding risks and promote strong safeguarding practices.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Business Development and/or grant writing in NGO or development organizations.
  • Proven track record in writing winning proposals and fundraising.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and work in demanding environments.
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations/business development or relevant field; master’s degree is a plus.
