Job Summary:

Are you passionate about migration issues and eager to contribute to meaningful research and evaluation initiatives? Join us at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Intern. In this role, you will support the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and research activities, working closely with our dedicated team to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.

Responsibilities:

As a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Intern, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Supporting M&E Activities:

  • Assisting in designing M&E strategies and workplans under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Reviewing and tracking progress of country-level M&E workplans.
  • Contributing to the design of project-level M&E plans and proposals.
  • Conducting data verification exercises and providing technical guidance for data collection.
  • Assisting program teams in data collection and reporting.

Contributing to Research Activities:

  • Supporting research assignments and following up on deliverables.
  • Contributing to the development and dissemination of research initiatives.
  • Providing accurate data and narrative inputs to external entities.

Other Duties:

  • Assisting in planning and delivering trainings, workshops, and events related to M&E and research activities.
  • Contributing to the development of M&E guidance and SOPs.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Completed or final year of enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in social sciences, migration studies, econometrics, statistics, or related fields.
  • At least two years of professional experience, including work on university campuses in a research function.
  • Experience supporting multi-country monitoring processes and participating in applied research initiatives.
  • Track record of authoring reports; publication in peer-reviewed journals is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Excellent writing skills and ability to present analytical results clearly.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of ODK platforms, especially KoBo, is desirable.
  • Experience with survey design, data collection, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of statistical software and data visualization tools; familiarity with SQL is advantageous.

Languages:

  • Proficiency in English is required; working knowledge of French is advantageous.
