Introduction to MESPT

Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust (MESPT) was established in 2002 by the Government of Kenya and later partnered with the Royal Danish Embassy through a Trust Deed of 2013. MESPT operates as a development organization with a mission to empower smallholder farmers and Agri SMEs to enhance productivity, increase incomes, and foster competitiveness for job creation, particularly among youth and women. Our focus lies in providing integrated financial and business development services to smallholder farmers and Agri SMEs in Kenya, facilitating access to finance, enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting agro-processing, and fostering market linkages. Over the years, MESPT has collaborated with various stakeholders to build capacity in the business services and agricultural sectors through innovative programs, creating sustainable linkages along value chains. To date, MESPT has successfully implemented 12 agriculture-based programs, generating over 70,000 jobs and disbursing KES 6.4 billion to financial institutions, benefiting over 250,000 end-users. PROGRAMME INTERN POSITION

We are currently seeking a proactive and eager-to-learn recent graduate to join us as a Programme Intern. This role will be integral to supporting the Green Employment Agriculture Programme (GEAP) by assisting in record management, data management, and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities. The Programme Internship presents a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in program implementation, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of program systems and processes.

Department: Green Employment Agriculture Programme (GEAP)

Position Reports to: Programme Officer

Duty Station: Nakuru, Kenya

Benefits: Stipend as per MESPT Internship policy

Expected Travel: Restricted

Terms: 3-month contract

Role Purpose:

The successful candidate will support the following GEAP activities in Nakuru county:

  1. Data collection and reporting.
  2. Performance Management Information System (PMIS) migration in Central Region Economic Bloc (CEREB) region.
  3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities in Nakuru and Nyandarua region.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with planning project implementation in CEREB Region.
  • Provide support in the administration and program management.
  • Organize internal and external meetings and events, including background materials development and report writing.
  • Offer administrative, project management, and information management support.
  • Assist in Monitoring & Evaluation and internal and external reporting.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Ms Office Suite Products (Excel, Power Point, SharePoint).
  • Experience in report writing will be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with data and record management.
  • Degree or Diploma in agriculture-related fields, Agribusiness, Rangeland management, Monitoring, and evaluation, or equivalent.
  • Positive, energetic self-starter with a high level of personal drive and resilience.
  • Demonstrated integrity and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn.
