JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, the Volunteer Engagement Intern will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our volunteer programs. From volunteer recruitment and management to handling donations, you’ll be an integral part of our team. DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:

Six months with the possibility of extension based on funding availability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Management Support:

  • Processing and updating volunteer records.
  • Assisting with volunteer trainings and orientations.
  • Organizing special volunteer events.
  • Scheduling volunteer activities.
  • Creating online training materials for volunteers.

Communication’s Support:

  • Conducting interviews with volunteers.
  • Writing engaging stories highlighting volunteer contributions.
  • Collaborating with the Volunteer Coordinator on storytelling themes.
  • Capturing photos and videos during volunteer builds.

KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES / INDICATORS

  • Percentage of volunteer records processed accurately.
  • Volunteer feedback satisfaction scores.
  • Number of process improvements suggested and implemented.
  • Percentage of correct and up-to-date volunteer database entries.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Communications, or related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Previous volunteer work experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Basic photography skills.
  • Interviewing skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Not more than 1 year prior experience in volunteer engagement work.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Willingness to uphold Christian principles of HFH Kenya.
  • Ability to work long and odd hours, including weekends.
  • Confidentiality, honesty, and high levels of integrity.
