Job Summary:

As an Accountant III at Oakland County, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining and overseeing the accuracy of complex accounting functions. You’ll be responsible for preparing accounting books, managing subsidiary financial records, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws. Your expertise will be crucial in solving unusual accounting problems, arranging auditing programs, and preparing financial reports. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the design and implementation of revised accounting systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accuracy of accounting books and subsidiary financial records.
  • Prepare financial and statistical reports summarizing account transactions.
  • Analyze existing accounting systems and assist in implementing revised systems.
  • Provide technical expertise for unusual accounting problems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Arrange special auditing programs.
  • Calculate costs for budget statements and cost analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

At the time of application, applicants must:

  1. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field of study.
  2. Have three (3) years of full-time professional accounting work experience.

Note: A Master’s degree in one of the degree areas listed above may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

College Transcripts:

Applicants with education higher than a high school diploma or GED must attach official/unofficial transcripts. Transcripts from outside the United States must be assessed for U.S. equivalency by a NACES member.
