JOB TITLE: Social Worker

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Conducting Home Visits and Family Data Recording: As a Social Worker at Stara Rescue Centre and School, you’ll conduct home visits to selected families, diligently recording essential family data to ensure comprehensive support and assistance.
Case Study Preparation for Families: You’ll play a pivotal role in preparing detailed case studies for families requiring special attention from our organization. Your insights and documentation will facilitate targeted interventions and support.
Attendance Tracking and Collaboration: Working closely with our teaching staff and fellow social workers, you’ll be responsible for keeping track of pupils’ attendance at Stara Rescue Centre. Your collaborative efforts will contribute to fostering a supportive learning environment.
Record Maintenance and Official Communication: Maintain both physical and digital records in accordance with organizational guidelines. Additionally, assist in drafting reports and official communications to ensure transparency and effective dissemination of information.
Guidance and Counseling Program Implementation: Participate actively in the implementation of guiding and counseling programs designed to support the holistic development of our beneficiaries. Your empathetic approach and professional guidance will be instrumental in fostering positive outcomes.
Visitor Point of Contact: Serve as a point of contact for visitors to our organization, offering assistance and information as required. Your welcoming demeanor and knowledge will contribute to a positive visitor experience.
Volunteer and Trainee Guidance: Provide guidance to volunteers, interns, and trainees on various tasks related to social work. Your mentorship will empower them to contribute effectively to our mission and vision.
Other Assigned Duties: Undertake any other related duties as assigned by management from time to time. Your flexibility and willingness to adapt will be essential in meeting the evolving needs of our organization.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Social Work and Community Development: Possess a diploma in Social Work and Community Development or a related field from a recognized institution, demonstrating your foundational knowledge and skills in the field.
- Relevant Experience: Have at least 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably within a children’s welfare-oriented organization. Your practical experience will enhance your ability to support vulnerable populations effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, enabling you to effectively manage documentation and communication tasks.
- Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent communication skills, coupled with a compassionate and empathetic approach. Your ability to connect with others and convey information clearly will be invaluable in your interactions.
- Flexibility and Willingness to Travel: Be a people person with a willingness to visit various parts of Kibera and its environs in the course of your duties. Adaptability and a readiness to engage with diverse communities are essential for success in this role.
