PEACE WINDS JAPAN WASH (ASSISTANT) ENGINEER 2024

Summary:

Peace Winds Japan (PWJ), a prominent Japanese Non-Governmental Organization, seeks a proficient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Assistant Engineer to join its humanitarian efforts. Operating in Hagadera, Kenya, this role entails overseeing WASH activities in the Dadaab Refugee complex and adjacent areas. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in water infrastructure, construction management, and community engagement, fostering collaborative relationships with governmental bodies and ensuring project efficacy.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Project Management and Planning:

  • Develop cohesive work relationships with government entities, facilitating project execution.
  • Prepare comprehensive renovation plans, including budget estimates and monitoring protocols.
  • Supervise ongoing constructions, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timely completion.

2. Program Implementation and Oversight:

  • Facilitate the design and execution of public health education initiatives.
  • Represent PWJ in WASH platforms and technical working groups.
  • Provide support to WASH engineers and officers as needed.

3. Collaboration and Integration:

  • Collaborate with various functions within the organization to ensure program effectiveness and compliance.
  • Assist in drafting internal and external reports, collecting field data for analysis.

4. Community Engagement and Capacity Building:

  • Train and guide community water facilities management committees.
  • Identify WASH needs within target communities, proposing technical solutions and procurement plans.
  • Supervise contractors, skilled labor, and volunteers, ensuring project alignment with quality standards.
